ZEMBU
Is like diving into a cool lake on a hot July afternoon.
Which is to say, it’s pretty soothing. Seattle-born Sarah Pumpian is the producer and creative force behind ZEMBU, and in 2019 teamed up with multi-instrumentalist Colton Boening to bring the project to a live setting. The duo operate out of Fort Collins, and marry sparse percussion with atmospheric melodies that let Sarah’s soulful voice shine through. We shot with ZEMBU in (and on top of) the abandoned Union Pacific station in South Denver on a very, very hot August afternoon.
And if you’re a Radiohead fan (is anyone not?), check out ZEMBU’s cover of “Weird Fishes.”
