Tey

Is like a dull knife that etched the names of two lovers into the back of a tree.

Their voice is just sharp enough to pierce the armor, and haunting in a way that makes you feel like you've been there before.

Tey is originally from a small town in Minnesota where they overcame a childhood battle with terminal illness. It's left scars that you can hear clearly in their voice—some longing, some abandon, and some desensitization. "You know she's not the sentimental type / I heard she's doing just fine," Tey sings in the first song of their performance, "SpeakinOf."

Tey later moved to Boise where they linked up with previous UNWRAPT performer and local Denver musician, Raf Nava. At the time, Tey wasn't making music, but their friendship has sparked an instrumental curiosity and artistic pursuit for the singer-songwriter. It's a world familiar to Tey, who flexes their creative muscles as a furniture designer and carpenter in the Santa Fe district.

The video was shot at an abandoned mine shaft in Clear Creek County just as the fall colors were beginning to change. The songs in order: "SpeakinOf," "Landslide" cover, and "Lemonade." Other artists include Haiden Davis (violin), Joseph Paul Szlanic (bass), and Raf Nava (vocals, guitar).
